Our client, the biggest business in the Sports/Retail/Gaming sector that has recently become one of the prestigious FTSE100, is looking for a Finance Analyst to join their IT Finance team to assist in the timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts for key IT functions as well as consolidation of wider technology costs.

Key responsibilities of the Finance Analyst:

  • Full cost centre management for key IT functions through regular reviews with owners using high quality reporting and variance analysis.
  • Ensure that all necessary accounting adjustments are posted each period in order to produce accurate management accounts all with accurate supporting information.
  • Consolidate multiple data sets required to compile the month end reporting packs at a Technology, Divisional and Tower level.
  • Ensure all data is accurate and robust to ensure full confidence in the data in relation to the underlying ledgers and accounts
  • Deliver insightful analysis and commentary on all key variances to budget/plan/forecast/prior year in order to explain and drive performance including presentations to FD. 
  • Ensure a strong working knowledge of the commercial trends in order to understand, explain and anticipate cost variances.
  • Ensure that relevant delegated IT balance sheet reconciliations are completed/reviewed to agreed deadlines with all reconciling items investigated and resolved promptly.
  • Preparation of annual budget, working with budget owners to create, review, challenge and upload annual budgets.
  • Full assistance with the annual audit and act as a key contact for the auditors during the audit process. Provide information required to auditors during internal and external audit processes to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Ensure that the impact of new systems, processes or initiatives are appropriately considered and incorporated into existing reporting and controls environment.
  • Support the reporting of synergy savings identified, delivered and forecast.
  • Review all purchase orders and invoices, ensuring that all are within budget and have been coded correctly and flagging to the Accounts Payable team where changes need to be made and assisting the team in coding supplier invoices and recharges. 
  • Ability to manage and manipulate large volumes of data
  • Ensure that all queries from internal stakeholders are dealt with effectively and promptly
  • Support the FP&A Manager and wider IT finance team with ad-hoc requests as required.

The successful candidate will either be a part or newly qualified candidate with strong IT Finance experience working in a similar role with management accounting and reporting processes. You will have experience of budgeting, planning and forecasting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and strong Excel skills. You will be well organised and have the ability to work with all areas of the business and work within tight timelines. Experience in using financial reporting tools particularly Hyperion, Pivotstream, Oracle/Oracle Fusion, EBS/JDE would also be desired.
