Underwriting Assistant



Salary: £18,000-£20,000



Hours: Monday - Friday 9am-5pm



Location: Tunbridge wells, Kent



Overview:



A Commercial Underwriting Assistant will work as part of a team dealing with all aspects of Existing Business from our broker base for all our Products. This includes Tradesmans, Commercial Combined, Property Owners and Motor Trade and can range from mid term adjustments to cancellations via phone and email enquiries.





Responsibilities:

* Assist the Department's Underwriters with the underwriting and administration of Property, Liability and other commercial business in accordance with the Department's Underwriting Guidelines, Company Procedures and within the job holder's written Underwriting Authority.
* Using the Underwriting systems to deliver new and renewal quotations, policy documentation and mid-term adjustments (as directed by the Department's Underwriters) to brokers in line with Company standards and expectations.
* Undertake initial investigative work in relation to indemnity decisions prior to their referral to the Unit Heads, Divisional Head or Deputy.
* Assist with all market research projects from the Underwriting teams.
* Deal with telephone enquiries effectively and efficiently.
* Deal with email and other written enquiries effectively and efficiently.
* Resolve Accounts queries in line with Company guidelines.
* Accurately process new business, mid-term adjustments, extranet referrals and diaries.
* Accurately process Declinature details.

General/Administrative:

* Assist Department underwriting staff with administrative duties as directed.
* Liaise with field, marketing and sales staff on behalf of the Department.
* User Test rates and acceptance on the Zenith Underwriting / delivery systems.
* Meet all relevant statutory requirements concerning Health & Safety, Data Protection, Anti-Money Laundering, FSA or other regulators



Qualifications:



* Cert CII is preferable but not essential
* Insurance experience preferred
