Responsibilities

Avila University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science appointment to begin August 2018.

Avila University is a Catholic university sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and teaches students to be advocates for social justice, regardless of their profession, academic field or religious affiliation.  The university is committed to educating students as global citizens capable of engaging across social and cultural boundaries.

Qualifications

A Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and a background in Cybersecurity and Database Administrationis required. A PhD is preferred, along with a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service to the campus community. Responsibilities will include teaching introductory and upper-level Computer Science, Software Engineering, Database Management and Cybersecurity courses.  Candidates for the Assistant Professor position will be expected to apply innovative teaching techniques to course content and will supervise undergraduate research for majors.  The successful candidate will develop a Cybersecurity major, work with other faculty to develop a data management program and direct the online Computer Science program, which includes hiring and supervising adjuncts for developing and teaching courses.
