Position Overview

As a Pediatric Registered Dental Assistant, you will be focused on patient care and building relationships. You will be a representative of Bay Area Kids Dentist’s Core Values to our Team Members and our Patients. Your focus will be creating the best environment for any family that walks through the front doors through hospitality, education, and excellence in dentistry. Our RDA’s will perform all Registered dental assisting duties in accordance with the rules and regulations of the California Board of Dentistry.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Welcome pediatric patients and parents in a comforting manner to prepare them for upcoming treatment/ hygiene/ exam visits

· Educate patients and family members in oral hygiene and preventive care

· Review dental treatment consent forms with parents

· Perform Prophylaxis for hygiene patients

· Place sealants for eligible patients

· Review patient’s medical history with parent

· Assist the dentist during a variety of pediatric dental treatment procedures including 4-handed dentistry

· Prepare cements, liners, and take impressions of patient’s teeth for certain procedures

· Take x-rays on pediatric patients, process and mount them correctly.

· Clean, sterilize, and set up hygiene and treatment trays.

· Stock, store, and take inventory of supplies and materials.

· Test and maintain equipment (sterilizer, y, x-ray processor, etc.)

· Ability to assist in patient scheduling

· Confidently discussing treatment recommendations with patients

· Write notes in practice management software

· Uphold OSHA Standards and Infection Control Protocol

Qualifications

· 1 year of experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred however NOT required

· Team player and self-motivated

· Registered Dental Assistant licensed by the State of California.

· Coronal Polish Certification

· Radiation Safety Certification or completion of a radiation safety course approved

· Current BLS CPR Certification.

· High School Diploma or equivalent, GED.

· Ability to handle all patient information in compliance with HIPAA privacy and security regulations

· Working knowledge of Gmail, google docs and other messaging systems

· Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with parents, children and co-workers

Physical Demands

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance

· Occasional standing and bending are required

· Regular computer usage

Working Environment

· General dental office environment.

Bay Area Kids Dentist provides pediatric dental services for infants, children, and adolescents as well as sedation and dental care for children with special and emotional needs. Bay Area’s pediatric dentists Dr. Radwan and Dr. Metwally and all the rest of the Bay Area Kids Dentist team are specially trained to allow them to manage children’s fears and apprehensions in a positive manner. They are also specially trained to provide dental treatments under mild conscious sedation and general anesthesia, which is recommended for certain circumstances, to lessen the mental and/or physical pain of a procedure while a child patient is awake.
