Job Description

The Children’s Service line at Carolinas HealthCare System, affiliated Levine Children’s Hospital and Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital, is looking for highly skilled and motivated Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join their pediatric specialties division. Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of experience in their pediatric specialty, but newly graduating NPs and PAs are also encouraged to apply. Example specialties include but are not limited to, pulmonary, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology oncology, nephrology, adolescent medicine, orthopedics, hospitalists and pediatric inpatient subspecialties.

There are 12 floors with 234 patient beds, including a 20-bed PICU.

• Most locations are out-patient only with an inpatient pediatrics team covering inpatient as well as newborn nursery.
• Practices share phone call coverage for after-hours care, first utilizing RN triage. NP/PA call coverage varies by practice location so please ask for details.

Education, Experience and Certifications
Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in SC required. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and concentrate.

Nurse Practitioner
Masters Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. AGPCNP, FNP, PNP-PC, or ANP certification according to population served.
Physician Assistant
Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required; Masters Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
