Job Description Application Development Manager

Position Description
CGI is looking for an experienced Application Development Manager to oversee all application development related activities for a large portfolio of custom and COTS applications. This position manages a team of 10-20 developers spanning several technical disciplines.


Your future duties and responsibilities
• Develop strategic direction and objectives for the development team.

• Define standard processes and methodology to support the client’s software development life cycle using both waterfall and agile methodologies

• Establish an effective, strong, and mutually beneficial relationship with the client.

• Provide ongoing direction and guidance to Development team members.

• Enforce compliance with established development processes and procedures.

• Develop and publish team processes and procedures including, but not limited to:

– Incident tracking

– Enhancement Request

– Code/Design Reviews

– Code/Design Standards

– Configuration Management Database Maintenance

– Source Control

• Manage day-to-day project/task commitments against available resources and priorities.

• Provide regular project and task status reports to users and client management.

• Create and communicate staffing projections on a quarterly basis.

• Manage multiple productions issues simultaneously

• Work to resolve disputes with clients.

• Takes the initiative to learn more advanced project planning skills and tools.

• Assist with development of strategic objectives and goals; provide technical and business solutions to accomplish objectives.

• Work with the Test and Release Managers to provide solutions and to deliver them to production.

• Demonstrate the ability to stay current with state of the art trends in the field of expertise.

• Support scheduled and unscheduled production issues during off hours, when appropriate.



Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Excellent understanding of Object Oriented programming including Java and/or C# .NET, Web Services.

• 4+ years as an Application Development Leader for a diverse portfolio of applications.

• 2+ years managing technical development teams.

• 3+ years Agile scrum methodology experience

• Cloud and on-prem platform applications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Ability to engage with clients and work with multiple development teams

• Demonstrated competence in analysis and problem-solving principles with emphasis in user relations, data gathering techniques and management information applications

• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities

• In Depth knowledge of SQL and Database design.

• Knowledge and experience with Enterprise systems including best practices for design, interfaces, sizing, etc.

• MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc).

• Working knowledge of Team Foundation Server and ServiceNow

• Experience with incident management

NONESSENTIAL SKILLS DESIRED:

AIX, Unix, Oracle Database, Jenkins, Jira, Microsoft Azure
