Position Description
CGI is looking for an Application Engineer to join our Federal Business Unit who support our Security, Administrative, Judicial, and Enforcement Programs Team. This position is to provide software development and application engineering support services to build a modern, Web-based automated system as part of a team using Agile Scrum methodologies


Your future duties and responsibilities
Analyze and study complex system requirements and user stories. Design software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manages their implementation. Manage software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and other accepted application design techniques. Estimate software development costs and schedule. Review existing programs and assist in making refinements, reducing operating time, and improving current techniques. Supervise software configuration management. Responsibilities include:
• Building software code and/or application components to reduce tight coupling and maximize re-use, and using a standard set of software engineering tools, practices, and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
• Maintaining communication with development teams, technical leads and product owners.
• Tracking user stories and tasks using Agile Scrum methodologies and agile tools (JIRA).



Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• A minimum of 3 years of related experience
• Bachelor’s Degree is desired, but not required
• Must have knowledge of complex and large scale application design and development using Agile Scrum methodologies.
• Must have experience with the following platforms and technologies:
- Java/J2EE
- JSP Template (FreeMarker/Thymeleaf)
- JavaScript/AJAX
- Spring (MVC, Web Services, Security, Batch)
- SQL
- Hibernate
- Maven/Gradel Jenkins
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to engage with clients and work with multiple development teams
• Experience working in an Agile environment, specifically Scrum
• Demonstrated competence in analysis and problems solving principles with emphasis in user relations, data gathering techniques and management information applications
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
• Detailed-oriented with proven time management and organization skills, with a demonstrated ability to achieve results.

Desired:
Knowledge of and experience building application architectures that are platform agnostic to allow for vertical and horizontal scaling.
Experience in Federal or Legislative branch system application development lifecycle (SDLC) is a plus.
