Job Description Database Administrator

Position Description
CGI is looking for a Mid to Senior-Level Database Administrator to join our Federal Business Unit who support our Security, Administrative, Judicial, and Enforcement Programs Team. This position is to provide application systems analysis to support the building of a modern Web-based automated system as part of a team using Agile Scrum methodologies. The Database Administrator will be responsible for supporting database management functions such as database deployment, replication and clustering. Prior analyst experience should also demonstrate experience with data storage, data networking and AWS ecosystem.


Your future duties and responsibilities
Define file organization, indexing methods, and security procedures for specific user applications. Test and assist in the implementation of changes or new database designs. Monitor database usage and statistics. Extensive knowledge of relational database environment. Responsibilities include:
• Performing Data conversion, partitioning and performance tuning.
• Managing relational and dimensional modelling.
• Deploying, replicating and clustering databases.
• Maintaining communication with development teams, technical leads and product owners.
• Tracking user stories and tasks in the Scrum agile workflow system (JIRA).



Required qualifications to be successful in this role
10 years of relevant experience
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience with data storage, data networking, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecoysystem.
Must have experience with the following platforms and technologies:
• PostgreSQL 9.5 or recent on cloud ecosystem (AWS preferred)
• Database deployment, replication, clustering
• Relational and dimensional modeling.
• Data conversion, portioning, and performance tuning
• OLTP, ODS and DW experience.
At least one completed major application migration to the cloud and several minor application migrations completed to cloud/ hybrid solutions.
Must have experience working in a team environment utilizing Agile Scrum methodologies.

Desired:
Knowledge of the following software platforms and technologies:
Java (J2EE)
JSP Template
JavaScript/AJAX
Spring (MVC,Web Services, Security,
Batch)
SQL, Hibernate
Maven/Gradel
Jenkins
Experience in Federal or Legislative branch system application development lifecycle (SDLC) is a plus.
