Job Description Director, Lead Technical Architect

Position Description
CGI seeks a lead technical architect who is hands-on and whose past experience demonstrates depth in application development, open source software deployment and/or large COTS integration.


Your future duties and responsibilities
This lead technical architect’s primary responsibility is to work with the Solution Development teams to develop CGI IP. The lead technical architect will be responsible for leading a team of technical architects, architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet various requirements of CGI IP. The lead technical architect will play a hands-on role in establishing architectural vision and direction, coach, mentor and provide advice and guidance, monitor emerging technologies, and help in technology evaluation and selection of new tools and 3rd party products.

This position requires a good understanding of modern multi-tier architectures and the ability to work closely with delivery managers, Solution Architects and with business teams to architect technology solutions to meet client needs.



Required qualifications to be successful in this role
•A Bachelor’s degree with minimum 15 years of work experience in the IT field.
• Minimum 10 years of Application/Product development experience
•Minimum of 5 years of experience as an architect in building complex and highly scalable applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, must be proficient developing and delivering presentations on solution and business case/value to Federal IT executives and managers.
• Aggressive, self-directed style.
• Ability to develop shared service offerings in an IT service provider (Cloud) environment.
• Knowledge of Federal Government a plus.
• Exposure to Agile Development, DevOps and Micro services
•Knowledge of SDLC, product and project life cycles
•Ability to clearly articulate technology concepts to business audience
•Hands-on experience developing software using C++, Java, JavaScript etc.
•Experience and understanding of n-tier technical architectures (web servers, application servers, database servers) in a high performance and highly available deployment.
•Experience and skills with RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server) concepts, nosql databases a plus

Desired Qualifications:
• Master Degree in Technical or Business discipline a plus.
• Previous consulting experience
• Experience in information security, high availability, cloud and big data
•API design and construction
• Experience managing and collaborating with distributed teams.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, using initiative to anticipate needs in areas of responsibility
• Strong business acumen and possession of a positive attitude, communications savvy and effectiveness (complex collaboration, diplomacy, tact)
• Ability to multi-task, stay resourceful and resilient when presented with change, view challenges with fresh eyes and willingness to rethink past assumptions

Due to the nature of government contracts, this position requires applicants with Green Cards or US Citizenship.
