Position Description
The Portfolio Project Architect is a new position in the Operations IT Delivery portfolio, accountable to support up to 15 projects with technical project needs. The Portfolio Project Architect will support Project Managers, Project Architects and Project Technical Leads with establishment of portfolio level coordination and process direction across Enterprise Teams including Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, and Security, as well as fulfillment of ad hoc/temporary project architecture needs for both Non-Production and Production environment needs. The Senior Project Architect is responsible for the end to end architecture and design of software implementation, integration and upgrade projects ranging in scale from $3M to $15M. The Architect will author, broker approvals and oversee the technical implementation of high level and detailed designs that align with Enterprise Architecture standards.


Your future duties and responsibilities
Hands-on leadership position delivering solutions that leverage vendor products as well as enterprise tools to manage electric and gas networks. Examines existing project design documentation, translates requirements and uses cases and drives the decomposition of high level design to detailed design. Coordinates software configuration, integration development and vendor technical activities. Collaborates with the project manager, SMEs, application technical analysts and enterprise architects. This position requires excellent communication skills; both written and verbal. This position is ultimately responsible for the overall solution architecture design and successful implementation of the solution into production. These tasks include: Create detail level design for custom software integration solutions. Develop artifacts to be used in downstream Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases. Setup of test, development and production environments. Coordinate software installation and configuration. Provide leadership to in house and vendor technical resources, working with PM on suggested work assignments and leading team from design to solution. Serve as liaison to other teams involved in project, coordinating integration work. Work with Test Lead to coordinate environments and help coordinate technical resources to support testing activities. Work closely with PM, providing status updates on risks, issues and task completions. Coordinate technical aspects of deployment, including hardware installation, environment setup, production certification, and software deployment. Coordinate peer review and Software Configuration Management activities. Work with software vendors as needed to coordinate software deliveries, provide detailed information on bugs, etc.


Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Minimum 10 years of experience creating high level design and solution architectures. Documented experience managing large, custom software development projects including GUI, database, and historical reporting. Documented experience managing acquisition and integration of COTS products with existing legacy applications. Documented experience with all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including requirements, planning, high level and detailed design, execution, testing and defect remediation, and implementation. Experience working in the utility industry preferred. Proven experience in functional and technical architecture, design and development, testing, and system integration. Demonstrated ability to analyze strategic business objectives and align those objectives with technologies and resources to deliver on tactical solutions. Proven experience with various enterprise application integration technologies, specifically ESB, SOAP/Webservice, and database integrations. Ability to coordinate with a dedicated enterprise integration team. Familiarity with data warehousing and business analytics. Familiarity with security considerations. Ability to coordinate with a dedicated security team. Experience with data modeling. Experience in coordinating development/technical activities across a large organization. Experience developing structured detailed designs and detailed test cases Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Experience developing solutions from Business driven requirements. Experience working within the utility industry. Familiarity with Electric outage and Gas Transmission or Distribution a plus. Familiarity with work management systems a plus.
