Position Description
Responsible for managing complex and high risks projects. Oversees project budgets and schedules. Manage day-to-day aspects of project scope. Minimizes project risk. Creates and manages project work plans and work breakdown structures. This Project Manager is accountable for the on-time, on-budget delivery of an in flight $3M+ software development and integration project to provide the Damage Prevention organization with a replacement system track and manage damages to field equipment. Additionally, this project will deliver an enhancement to the asset location system to integrate GIS data with the locate ticket information. The underlying solution supporting both the locate ticket and damage prevention solutions is hosted with a vendor in their cloud environment. This is an upgrade of the locate ticket solution, upgrading the vendors solution and moving it from an in-house solution to a cloud hosted solution.


Your future duties and responsibilities
Remaining work includes the replacement of the current damage prevention solution with the vendors cloud-based solution with all relevant integrations as well as completion of a couple of follow-on enhancements to the locate ticket solution. The PM is responsible for assessing the current solution design, assessing pending scope change requests, and delivering options and a recommendation for new solution architecture and high level design. Following a leadership decision, this PM will be responsible for driving the schedule adjustments, detailed design, and implementation. Leads the current execution and future planning project phases including the definition of the deliverables and the required delivery dates, creation of a logical work breakdown structure, definition of major project milestones, accumulation of all project cost and benefit estimates. Identifies risks and issues and provides effective mitigation. Monitors project activities and resolves/escalates issues as needed.


Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Minimum 5 years of project management experience, with documented experience managing a custom software development project with a $5M project budget or greater. Proven experience with the integration of commercial solutions lifecycle including managing requirements specification, design activities, prototype development, testing and final deployment. Proven vendor management experience including SOW creation, financial control, and aggressively driving vendor to meet date and budget commitments. Proven experience on a project with a large number of impacted users, (i.e., at least 200 users) and managing the associated change management. Utility experience preferred. GIS experience preferred.
