Position Description
CGI Federal is seeking a Senior Research Analyst to support operations at Ft. Leavenworth, KS.

Synopsis: The United States Army Training and Doctrine Command’s (TRADOC) Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence (DCSINT) G2 provides strategic, operational, tactical and program analysis for the Future Force to address potential vulnerabilities and define significant characteristics of the Operational Environment (OE). The TRADOC G-2’s Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO) is an open source research organization that focuses on the foreign perspective of understudied aspects of the Operational Environment.



Your future duties and responsibilities
Basic Functions:

The contractor will be a principal resource at the Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO). The contractor shall provide military and program analysis in the form of articles of an academic quality sufficient to be published in peer-reviewed journals, other research reports, and the writing and publication of analysis of security issues from open sources and foreign language media. The contractor will respond to the technical direction of the TRADOC DCSINT G2 via FMSO.

- The incumbent will be a principal resource at the Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO), an unclassified, open foreign source research and intelligence center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
- The incumbent will focus on multiple subjects, to include culture, military capabilities, current political and social processes and discords, and economic issues, and will coordinate with the FMSO Director on formulating an annual research plan.
- The incumbent will respond to the unclassified research requests that FMSO receives that deal with military and security issues, even when they do not deal with the incumbent’s specific research program.
- The incumbent will be asked to represent FMSO on occasion, whether it is to interact with visitors to FMSO or as part of CONUS or OCONUS meetings dealing with military and security issues.
- The incumbent is expected to travel as required to maintain expertise and conduct specialized research.
- The incumbent will support FMSO and TRADOC G-2 programs. These include but are not limited to participation as a subject expert, by helping to develop the curriculum and offering relevant expertise and traveling to escort for the ROTC Culture and Language Immersion Program, and expert participation and distinguished visitor escort duties for the Joint Operational Environment Conference.
- The incumbent will assist with curriculum development and as an instructor of basic open source research techniques.



Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Required qualifications:

• A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in a behavioral science, a social science or a related discipline is required.
• Specialized experience working in and with Army education, training and leader development.
• Demonstrated understanding of applicable social science theory and methods for OE understanding.
• Experience demonstrating, planning and designing research projects, including short-term and long-term projects to provide a framework for collection and analysis.
• At least one (1) year of demonstrated experience performing the duties listed above.

Required Skills:

• A multidisciplinary understanding of standards for quality research.
• Knowledge of social science theories.
• Knowledge of methods of analysis.
• Distinctly skilled at open source research.
• Decidedly skilled at writing for diverse audiences.
• Keen ability to identify operational relevance of social science research
• Ability to work effectively individually as well as in a team environment; must be flexible and adaptable to performing with limited task definition.

- Must have an active SECRET level security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required.

- Due to the nature of the government contract requirement and / or clearance requirements, candidate must be able to perform temporary duty (TDY) up to 25% of the time.

Preferred qualifications:

- PhD is preferred.
