Job Description Senior Software Engineer/ Developer

Position Description
CGI Federal is looking for a Senior Software Engineer/Developer with experience in Federal or Legislative branch to perform software development and maintenance tasks to support an application and related administrative tools. The candidate shall perform front-end and server-side development architecture design and application testing. The contract must support the development and maintenance of the application using the SCRUM Agile Process, in a series of sprints, with releases of the application.


Your future duties and responsibilities
The Senior Software Engineer/Developer must support the development and maintenance of the application using the SCRUM Agile Process, in a series of 3-week sprints. Sprints shall be completed by a team and support personnel that are working with the designated (COR) and Program Management personnel that are assigned to this project. Each sprint must produce fully tested, usable code. The team must use standard Agile practices, including daily stand up meetings, user story based development, the Confluence/JIRA suite of tools, continuous integration, as well as both automated and manual testing. User stories shall be used to document requirements and tasks for each development sprint. User stories must be recorded in JIRA and scored using a points system. The members of the agile team shall participate in User Story creation sessions, stand ups, backlog grooming, and sprint retrospective meetings.


Required qualifications to be successful in this role
5+ years developing complex web applications using the identified technologies.
Analyzing and studying complex system requirements.
Designing software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manages their implementation.
Managing software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and other accepted design techniques.
Must have experience working in a team environment utilizing Agile Methodology. Must have experience with:
- Java (JEE 5,6,7)
- JSF/IceFaces
- Oracle 11g/12c
- Lucene/SOLR
- SOAP/REST web services
- HTML5 / CSS 3
- JavaScript

Desired:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, engineering or related field.
Application of advanced technical principles, theories and concepts will be essential to contributing to the development team, and ensuring proper setup, configuration, and functionality of system being deployed.
