Job Description Sr. Database Analyst

Position Description
Duties:

· Maintain and administer highly scalable database and data warehouse environments using the latest technologies following software engineering best practices
· Monitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users
· Install and test new versions of the database management system (DBMS)
· Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
· Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
· Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans
· Ensure that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures function correctly
· Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
· Assemble, deliver and share technical information and training materials used across many technical disciplines and staff roles
· Provide implementation estimates outlining business and technical risks
· Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans
· Perform capacity planning
· Lead or perform proof-of-concept initiatives in new technologies
· Control access permissions and privileges
· Be a contributing member of a cross-functional project team, following rapid project implementation methods
· Gather and assemble information to support risk assessment and security vulnerabilities of client and corporate enterprise systems
· Support testers and quality assurance engineers in requirements validation and verification activities
· Provide third level customer support



Your future duties and responsibilities
· Ability to administer large scaled database solutions in a complex n-tiered environment with leading RDBMS (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, MySQL)
· Ability to perform database monitoring and tuning
· Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
· Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
· Ability to work well independently or in a team environment · Flexibility and ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
· Ability to design and implement logical and physical database structures
· Ability to develop database scripts to automate database administration and maintenance activities
· Ability to work with configuration management teams to implement database scripts in a continuous integration environment
· Ability to work with cross-functional development teams to support end-to-end software development lifecycle activities
· Ability planning activities with project management, including implementation estimates and task tracking



Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Qualifications:
· BS in Computer Science or related field
· 8+ years of database administration experience
· 6+ years of systems analysis experience
· 6+ years of data modeling experience
· 5+ year of database programming experience
· 3+ years of experience implementing fault-tolerant and scalable database solutions in a clustered environment
