Sr. Oracle DBA
Position Description
CGI has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Oracle DBA. We are looking for this person to join the team in Raleigh, NC.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support for Oracle databases
- Provide database administration for a variety of mission-critical custom and packaged software applications
- Experienced in performance tuning and optimization analysis, troubleshooting/best practices and procedures
- Ability to mentor/supplement DBA team members
- Design storage strategies around backup and recovery for complex database environments, physical structures, and specialized database applications
- Partner with agile project teams and interact with enterprise DBAs to find solutions for projects and operational issues in existing and proposed databases
- Act as a liaison serving as primary point of contact between application development segments and database administrators
- Administration of Oracle distributed implementations, including database definition, structure, documentation and long-range requirements
- Understands stored procedures, SQL, SQL queries and performance optimization
- Understand and follow industry best practices and standards
- Provide standardization and consistency across environments
- Ensure a stable and secure database environment
- Implement and monitor database functionality to ensure stable environments
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- 6+ years of Oracle (Linux, Unix, Windows) with strong zLinux background
- 3+ years of strong Linux background
- 3+ years of scripting experience
- Understand the systems development process and have a solid understanding of business processes
- Proven analytic skills, strong judgment and works effectively with others
- Strong prioritization and leadership skills
- Demonstrated diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication skills
Educational Requirement
Relevant Bachelor’s Degree such as Computer Science, Math, Economics, Engineering, Actuarial Science, or Statistics OR equivalent experience
