Position Description

Looking for dynamic Sybase developers willing to work in a fast paced geographically distributed environment for one of the largest banks in Canada.



Your future duties and responsibilities
Maintains responsibility for analysis of Sybase code and development where changes are necessary. Tunes queries / stored procedures, indexes, and other database elements.
Develops or maintains stored procedures, including designing, coding, testing, debugging, and installing.
Ability to follow software development methodologies, including working through business requirements and designs with IT partners.
Reviews and enhances existing Sybase code to improve performance and ensure application meets industry-standard specifications.
Interfaces with partners throughout systems to determine impacts of software changes.
Confer with application development staff or project management staff regarding task definitions and schedules for substantial projects involving database(s). Plan and design database changes necessary for data conversion, tool configuration, data refresh or migration or other initiatives related to large application development project.
Troubleshoot or confer with others troubleshooting errors or production problems involving databases to determine causes and proposed solutions.



Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- 3+ years of Sybase experience
- Experience with data and batch loading processes.
- Strong Data Modeling and Database design skills
- Experience with Data warehouses and transactional databases
- Proficiency with optimization techniques
- Thorough understanding of software development life cycle
- Must have experience administering databases in a large environment for complex computer systems.
- Must have proficiency in design, administration, implementation, upgrades, monitoring and database tuning that ensures the application runs efficiently and reliably.
- Strong communication skills
- Candidate should have ability to work independently
