Lead Digital Solution Architect
Position Description Are you looking for a unique opportunity with a progressive and growing organization?
CGI is actively searching for an innovative Lead Digital Solution Architect to manage the development of system solutions for business and technical initiatives involving our large financial institution clients throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
As a member of CGI’s Systems Integration and Consulting Practice (SI&C), you will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the development of our product solutions to align with our business vision and strategy while providing effective consulting services to our client organizations.
Work Location: Markham 2 positions available
Your future duties and responsibilities Product Development and Management
• Plan, direct and coordinate daily activities of a team of developers for assigned projects • Understand the necessity of, and contribute to, development standards and processes • Act as a resource for software developers on policies, procedures and technical issues • Execute design and code reviews of software components developed by other team members • Assist in the enforcement of coding standards and departmental best practices • Develop and produce assigned software components according to project timelines and specifications • Create and conduct software and executable tests, continuously integrating code into the overall software framework • Review current software to identify defects and opportunities to improve performance and stability • Maintain and enhance existing software to address strategic business development needs, as well as, to improve the software • Research technical strategies, third party tools, and current and new technologies to deal with emerging technical issues and improve development efficiency • Assist project management with adhering to project deadlines and schedules • Monitor and report on the progress of development activities • Solid understanding of ITIL, SDLC and PMLC concepts
Required qualifications to be successful in this role • Proficient in managing the development of multi-tier, secure business applications for high availability, scalability and performance • Demonstrated ability to rapidly develop expertise in emerging technologies, through hands-on, real-time, on the fly exposure and involvement • Understanding of object-oriented analysis, design and development • Solid experience in Java implementation technologies: Java EE 5, Spring framework, Spring Batch, Spring MVC, SVN, Maven, MyBatis, Tomcat, Security-SAML • Solid experience in Oracle database technologies • Expert in industry standards development methodology such as RUP, XP and/or Agile • Exposure to various technologies such as web-based, desktop, on-line and batch • Experience with PL/SQL would be an asset
Ideal Background:
• Minimum 5 years software development experience with Java enterprise application • 7+ years IT Industry experience in application development as a development manager/lead • University/Bachelor or post graduate studies and/or other relevant professional certificate • Familiar with financial services operations and technology, including major platforms, technologies, applications, architectures, business models and internal structures • Financial services background and / or industry certification (CSC, CPH, CFP, CIBA, ICB or CFA) preferred. • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Strong organization and leadership skills with the ability to facilitate technical session • Can communicate in both technical and business terms • Ability to multi-task • Previous experience in banking systems, including brokerage, wealth management, and/or securities • Detailed knowledge of brokerage operations, retail brokerage sales and support is preferred • Must have previous supervisory experience managing and directing development teams
