Position Description
CGI is looking for a Mid-Level Software Development/Application Engineer to join our Federal Business Unit in our Fairfax, VA office who will support our Security, Administrative, Judicial, and Enforcement Programs Team. This position is to provide software development and application engineering support services, including the design, development, testing, and debugging of code to build modern, Web-based automated systems as part of a team using Agile Scrum methodologies.


Your future duties and responsibilities
• Analyze and study complex system requirements and user stories
• Manage software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and other accepted application design techniques
• Estimate software development resources, costs, and timeline using sprints/releases
• Review existing application architecture and assist in making refinements, reducing operating time, and improving current techniques.
• Design, develop, code, test, and debug software code and/or application components to reduce tight coupling and maximize re-use using Java (JEE 6&7/ORM/CDI) JSF/IceFaces
• Building and updating front-end web pages using HTML, CSS3, JQuery, AJAX
• Building and updating back-end application code that manipulates content, and interacts with other systems, and services
• Building and updating Soap/RESTful Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
• Maintaining open communication with development teams, technical leads and product owners
• Tracking user stories and tasks using Agile Scrum methodologies and agile tools (JIRA)

• Information architecture and usability analysis experience designing user interfaces for web based applications; 3+ years of experience as a lead
• Strong knowledge of widely accepted UX design tools such as Axure, Adobe CC, Balsamiq, Sketch, and InVision
• Experience with application design, content strategy, and content management systems
• Ability to partner with client stakeholders to gather functional requirements based on business processes and user needs
• Experience with Agile Scrum including writing user stories and tasks
• Hands on experience with UX deliverables including strategy and analysis documents, prototypes, Visual Design and UI specifications
• Hands on design of navigation, interaction, nomenclature systems, and UI diagrams including flows, wireframes, and sitemaps
• Experience with user test planning and execution including creation of usability test plans, test cases, and specifications
• Knowledge of usability best practices and accessibility issues such as 508 compliance and ARIA
• Understanding of frontend technologies including HTML5, CSS3, AJAX, Python, and other evolving interface standards to assist in design
• Experience with metrics analysis for tracking and analyzing user behavior trends to recommend UI/UX improvements

Desired qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience in Federal or Legislative branch system application development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Understanding of Responsive Design and supporting frameworks such as BootStrap
• Experience supporting social media and blog solutions
• Experience working with GitHub, Jira, Jenkins, Selenium, WordPress
