The Workforce and HR Systems Analyst will work in the Talent Office of Chicago Public Schools to provide human resource-related data needed to proactively support and collaborate with management, business partners and other customers. This position performs data analysis, creates reports, develops mechanisms and processes that ensure data integrity, assists with system maintenance and testing, and identifies opportunities for constant process improvement. This is a cross-functional technical role that requires strong SQL experience, PeopleSoft HCM knowledge and outstanding data analysis and analytical skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensures key metric reports are developed and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Ensures high quality data is presented in a logical and understandable format for the user.
  • Develops executive summaries for senior leadership.
  • Acts as an expert for HR leadership on the complete cycle of talent analytics and proactively analyze relationships between data to help drive HR strategies.
  • Provides strategic analysis of workforce data to help drive informed decisions internally and across a variety of departments throughout the organization.
  • Develops historical and forecasting reports/tools related to various HR-related data.
  • Create and maintain audits of various datasets and measure results against various metrics. Develop exception reporting protocols to ensure quality HR data.
  • Perform various quantitative and qualitative data administration tasks and analysis, including: data mapping, validation, error-checking, importing, and exporting.
  • Maintain various PeopleSoft foundation tables and assist in the development of standard PeopleSoft-related work policies and procedures; assist in maintaining security audits.
  • Collaborate with in-house technical teams and assist with functional requirements gathering, development, testing, implementation and support of various HR-related projects/processes.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, human resources information systems, or related fields.
  • Minimum of three years of proven and successful data/statistical analysis experience.
  • Minimum of two years of proven and successful experience with PeopleSoft HCM-
  • Must possess strong data analytical skills, technical leadership and project management skills, as well as the ability to handle multiple projects and assignments simultaneously in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Must possess the following skills: very strong SQL writing ability, experience working with PeopleSoft HCM and HR data, expert Microsoft Excel knowledge, strong experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and other presentation software. PeopleSoft Security and Query writing experience a plus.
  • Must have a strong history of developing positive relationships with team members, senior staff and other associates in the workplace.
  • Must be an independent, detail-oriented thinker exhibiting strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a team player with outstanding work ethics, interpersonal skills, flexibility, and ability to multi-task.
  • Must possess the ability to work creatively and efficiently under deadline; should be able to self-direct and balance competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Must have excellent written, oral communication and listening skills, as have the ability to translate technical information to non-technical users


Terms of Employment:

  • CPS employees are required to be actual residence of the City of Chicago within six months of beginning employment, and are required to maintain Chicago residency throughout employment.
