Description This position is responsible for the strategic planning and oversight of data management for the Clinician-Directed Performance Improvement (CDPI) Program. The individual will be responsible for design of data systems and implementing and overseeing the methods of identification, collection, formatting, and analysis of data required for planning, managing, and evaluating clinical service line delivery and outcomes. The individual works with the Physician Director of Performance Improvement to develop creative and proactive management and use of data to implement initiatives and improvements. The position is responsible for interfacing with clinicians, statisticians or other support staff and the Clinical Information Technology department to coordinate the integration of electronic data collection with CDPI activities. In addition, to ensure data quality and data stewardship, the individual is responsible for supervising CDPI data specialists in their data collection, management, and analysis, and ensuring the competence and performance of the data specialists by providing oversight and necessary training to maintain data accuracy and reliability. Responsibilities also include oversight of preparation and presentation of data results related to nursing, medical, and operational services. This position works directly with operational and clinical leadership in the design and development of capabilities, reports, and dashboards needed to execute and measure clinical and operational initiatives. When new data are needed, the individual defines the requirements for collecting and translating new data to meet ad-hoc requests. The position requires the ability to identify the customers' data needs, and increase their understanding and use of data. Requirements EDUCATION: Master's degree in engineering or science, Management Information Systems, or an administration-related field, including computer sciences, biomedical sciences, biostatistics, or business administration, is preferred. Substitutions for the Master's degree may include at least five years of work experience in a complex medical, scientific, or other technical environment with extensive data management and analysis incorporated into the experience. Previous leadership roles within departments of organizations requiring multi-disciplinary interactions, compliance with external audit teams, development of corrective action plans and dashboard metrics, and implementing policy with technical content preferred. CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:N/A SKILLS: Must have proficiency in database management and data design. An understanding of hospital processes and the systems involved in the delivery of patient care. Demonstrated knowledge of computer database function and reporting. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Ability to articulate information or data to multiple audiences with varying levels of knowledge and expertise. Must have the ability to apply scientific concepts and mathematics toward complex problem solving, critical thinking, service orientation, time management, and to calculate figures and perform basic statistical computations such as mean, median, and mode. Must be able to understand graphical displays of data and prepare and interpret control and run charts. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, test hypotheses and draw valid conclusions. Demonstrated skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point is required. Use of Access and knowledge of ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS and other coding systems is preferred. EXPERIENCE:Five years experience working with computer databases and reporting required, with experience working in complex multidisciplinary settings and demonstration of complex problem-solving. Senior level experience with compliance and database system development in a high risk scientific environment to include management, development and evaluation of systems, programs and employees. A minimum of five years experience in a quality and compliance driven scientific community requiring the integration of data collection and analysis, corrective action plan development and implementation, interaction with government/auditing agencies, effective communication with colleagues and all levels of management to include the development of dashboard metrics, adherence to policy and implementation of diverse solutions. NATURE OF SUPERVISION: Responsible to:Medical Director of Clinician-Directed Performance Improvement Program. ENVIRONMENT: Blood borne pathogen: A - The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. - In person or telephone interviews of patients. No physical contact or examination of patients. - Works in clean, well-lighted, ventilated, smoke-free environment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Occasionally stand; occasionally walk; frequently sit.
