The City of Sanford has an opening for a Civil Engineer II.

Incumbent will prepare/review construction estimates; serve as project manager; provide technical information; assist with cost estimates, bid documents and specifications; maintain records and files; prepare reports, and perform related tasks as required. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering as relates to the preparation of plans and specifications in the area assigned, modern methods and techniques as applied to the design of public works and utility projects, reading and interpreting internal and external design drawings and specifications; comprehensive knowledge in preparing, various documents, correspondence and technical reports; thorough knowledge in creating graphs, maps and other visual presentations, use of standard office equipment and standard office software; general knowledge in the use of plotters/printers various measuring devices and video software, using a digital camera, chemical testing equipment and surveying equipment, use of standard accounting software; some knowledge in the use of AutoCAD, ArcGIS and photo editing software; ability to communicate ideas effectively, orally and in writing; ability to make arithmetic computations; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors and the general public.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, or related field and considerable experience in civil engineering. Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license upon hire. Must be a registered Professional Engineer in the State of North Carolina upon hire. Must meet and maintain all certification, license and training requirements for position.

Salary Range: $57,765.07-$95,312.34 per year depends on qualifications, paid on a bi-weekly basis.
