The Role

You will be part of a large service engagement for this client, involving several hundred Cognizant resources in multiple areas of IT. The security team includes a group focusing on production/steady state support and the group you will join, which focuses on projects that will take this client's IT organization to the next level.

At a strategic level, you will assess the client's current systems and processes and then identify best practices, both to optimize current operations and to lay the groundwork for future growth and transformation. This will include automating procedures and developing repeatable processes.

More specifically, you will:
  • Assume end-to-end ownership for certificate creation, deployment, implementation and revocation. This will include assisting the application or team implementing or provisioning certifications by guiding and being on call with them all through the process
  • Schedule/execute discovery processes for continuous monitoring of environments for any usage of unknown certificates
  • Monitor and support the Venafi appliance infrastructure, including providing support in configuring, implementing and update of policies
  • Support change request (CR) process related to cert implementation for various platforms (Bluecoat, Powerseal etc) and relevant application using these platforms
  • Follow client change and configuration management process for certificates renewal, revocation, enrollment, and platform upgrades
  • Create and manage policies in Vormetric DSM, and manage endpoints by protecting them with VTE and key management using Vormetric DSM Quick question for you - click here
  • Monitor alerts, view current status, manage encryption keys and control access privileges
  • Hold consultations to understand the requirements
  • Resolve technical issues by working along with product vendors as needed
  • Develop and document a knowledge base of SOPs, runbooks and other report generation
  • Actively monitor incident, change request, and service request queues for tickets to be worked
  • Monitor and support the data activity monitoring (DAM) infrastructure, including collectors, management consoles and agents

The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Venafi / PKI Engineer opportunity, you will have:
  • Experience as a data security specialist and knowledge of data security models
  • Expert skills and hands-on experience with Venafi and certificate management (PKI); Venafi VSP or VSA certification is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of Vormteric DSM and its related appliance, ideally including experience in Implementation of Vormetric solutions

  • Experience with SIEM and security control
  • Database knowledge and familiarity with SQL
  • An understanding of:
    • Server and client certificate concepts
    • Provisioning, maintenance and revocation of certificates
    • Certificate lifecycle management
  • Some familiarity with automation
  • Knowledge of ITIL v3 is a plus
  • Solid leadership abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with clients
  • A team player approach
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
If you are not based in the greater Hartford area, you will need to be willing and able to travel regularly to the client site.
