Job Description:
We are looking for talented, passionate ASSISTANT EDITORS to join our team in NY. This role includes assistant editing on client-funded projects (native and branded), lifestyle content for our website and web series. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and have experience working on similar content. We are looking for assistant editors who adapt well to change have basic editing skills, syncing, multi camming, file formats, codecs, 4k & above workflow and footage, transcoding proxy files, prepping for online color and containers. This is a freelance position.

Qualifications:
Advanced level in editing software: Adobe Premiere
Intermediate level in After Effects
Deep understanding of codecs, exporting, transcoding and converting video files
Collaborate with Producers to create content that meets strict creative and technical standards.
Experience with 4k plus post workflows.
Excel in "finishing a video" (balancing audio, color correcting, fine-tuning cuts, etc.)
He/She must be able to multi-task, be personable with producers, take direction, and work on deadlines.

Great understanding of post-production software: Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and other Creative Cloud programs
1-2 years of hands-on relevant editing experience with reels to showcase

The successful candidate will be a collaborator who transcends all newsroom workgroups - to ensure our stories come to life with the best possible visuals. We are seeking an editor who is familiar with a diverse array of video editing techniques. For example - video used in a fast-paced nightly sportscast will be cut differently than a serious 3-camera anchor interview. What's more - your work will be showcased in a variety of *** : television newscasts, digital *** , specials & documentaries, and social *** posts.

Our editing team uses Edius to cut video, but experience on similar non-linear editing platforms like Avid or Final Cut is also acceptable. You have an excellent eye for visual compelling storytelling and are passionate about combining writing and storytelling with great pictures and sound. You will report to the Chief Photographer.

Responsibilities

Edit stories, videos, and newscasts on tight deadlines
Maintain news archives
Operate electronic newsgathering equipment
Nonlinear editing using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid, and Edius for newscast elements including PKGs, VOs, VOSOTs, opens, teases and preproduction material
Collaborate with producers, reporters and managers to produce high quality stories
Ensure storage and organization of *** files
Maintain standards for all edited material
Taking in ENG and SNG feeds
Any other editing responsibilities as assigned by news managers

Requirements

Knowledge of nonlinear editing software
Proficiency editing with Adobe Premiere
Can handle and juggle multiple editing assignments under strict deadlines
Knowledge of current video production techniques
Familiarity with mass communications law and *** responsibilities
Record multiple feeds on a digital encoding system
Search for source materials from multiple outlets and platforms
Related military experience will be considered
