Assists Director of Facilities in the planning, development, training, hiring, and oversight of the facilities staff. Responsible for maintaining high quality facilities and excellent service within those facilities.  Schedules regular maintenance and cleaning, oversees repairs and interacts with outside vendors. Ideal candidate must possess strong organizational, communications and motivational skills. Develops and monitors budgets. Will office at the Oaklawn Activity Center (OAC) and will serve as primary supervisor of that facility. Will be required to work some evenings and weekends.  

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Coordinates with DOF facility operations at all DRC facilities.   
  2. Supervises and schedules Facility staff including guest services, aquatic and fitness center staff.  
  3. Coordinates all Recreation Commission facility rentals.
  4. Assists to plan and manage facility capital improvement projects.
  5. Assists to prepare and administer the facility budgets.
  6. Directs usage of DRC fleet and schedules, repairs and preventative maintenance tasks and communicates with USD 260 and City of Derby when necessary.   
  7. Assists DOF with the planning and construction of new facilities and facility improvements.
  8. Recruits, screens, trains and supervises facilities staff.
  1. Supervises maintenance of outdoor grounds around the DRC, OAC and Hubbard Center. 

Additional Functions:

  1. Assumes DOF responsibilities when the DOF is off work or otherwise unavailable.  
  2. Participates in state and national recreation organizations to monitor trends and assure the DRC is maintaining best practices standards of the recreation industry.

 

Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to provide high quality recreation facilities. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability supervise facilities staff. Strong planning and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Should maintain certification in CPR/AED. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Special Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in the area of recreation administration, sport or leisure services preferred. EXPERIENCE: 5 or more years of experience in supervision of personnel and facilities management. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Need to have the ability to see and hear, sit, stand, climb a ladder, stoop, bend and walk about. Must posses an audible voice for communication and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
