The Requirements
To be a good fit for the Staff Accountant opportunity, you will have:- A bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting; a CPA or CPA candidate is a plus
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in a mid to large sized company
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and experience with month-end close

The Role
Reporting to the Controller, you will join a team that also includes the CFO, Accounting Manager, another Staff Accountant, Financial Analyst and 10 to 12 A/R and A/P Specialists. Our company is making the transition from mid-sized to enterprise in size and focus, and the Accounting team is reorganizing to support the transition. That means that your specific role will evolve over time, and you'll have input on the evolution. Quick question for you - click hereYou will support a variety of accounting functions, and initially you will invest the majority of your time in four key areas:
- Filing state and local sales tax returns for operations in more than 40 states
- Tracking and filing returns such as property tax, real estate tax, IFTA and others, on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Taking point on maintaining depreciation software, including updating fixed assets, running monthly depreciation inventory reports and more
- Preparing various tax and business license filings (i.e. Ohio CAT tax, Allentown EMST tax, and other state and local tax filings)
- Assist with the month-end and year-end closing process, financial statement preparation, account analysis and reconciliations, ensuring consistency with generally accepted accounting principles
- Maintain asset depreciation schedules (FAS) and post monthly entry
- Maintain annual truck licensing spreadsheet and complete renewal process
- Update sales tax rates in billing system
- Reconcile internal sales
- Track mobile trucks by region and allocate monthly expense to the proper regions
- Allocate fleet management net income to mobile regions that achieve PM currency standard
- Assist with automating additional internal accounting processes
- Assist A/R specialist with monthly bank recs as needed
- Perform special projects, ad hoc reporting and other duties as needed
