Our client is a world renown high-tech engineering company, specialising in complex Safety Critical systems. Due to continued growth they are seeking to hire an experienced Principal Test Engineer to work across a number of projects.

Role & Responsibilities:

* The role requires systemic, flexible and agile thinkers who can work across the breadth of the design assurance lifecycle to plan and develop IVV test activities. Their involvement in projects encompasses customer requirements analysis through the design, development, production and delivery of sub-systems.

* It is then the responsibility of the team to understand these project needs and transform them into product requirements that meet the needs of several projects. Hence due to the nature of these programmes, the role will be varied, and you may be working on multiple IVV activities in parallel and across several projects.

* The systems team has the responsibility to work with other technical functions to ensure that the overall design and delivery is coherent and complete, and the product is safe and secure. The IVV strategies therefore have to be complete across these design domains, and coherent with the overall project strategies.

Further Info:

* Your role will be varied across the system test activities, encompassing those of a sub-system as well as the generic product components.

* Working with the project teams, you will develop IVV strategies and plans to ensure that the system is successfully tested and delivered throughout the iterative trials programme.

* Working with the systems team and technical functions, you will develop test cases that appropriately exercise test aims.

* You will execute test programmes, reporting test results and issues, managing regression testing and exception reporting.

* You will form relationships across specialised technical functions to ensure that all design aspects of the launcher, such as software, electrical, electronic, safety and security are appropriately tested.

* You will be part of a team solving a very unique problem - how do I develop test strategies for generic military products in environments that, by their nature, have very differing constraints. Whilst minimising time-to-market and costs, but maintaining the high standards demanded.

Experience Required:

Essential:

* Sound understanding of systems IVV test processes and campaigns for military equipment.

* Experience in establishing design assurance strategies and plans for the progressive integration, verification and validation of the system.

* Experience in writing test descriptions to test system and sub-system requirements and support progressive integration of components.

* Experience in understanding system requirements and designs, in particular functional architectures.

* Knowledge of applicable system design domains such as electrical, electronics, software, safety and security.

* A systemic thinker with the ability to solve problems in a structured manner, identifying key abstractions in their solution.

* Excellent reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills.

* An ability to adapt to changing priorities, programme needs and tasks.

* Openness to an understanding and use of industry best practice in the establishment of Product Lines.

* Relevant Engineering or Science based Degree (or equivalent).

Desirable:

* Experience in the interpretation of System Models using SysML (or UML) (preferably using Rhapsody).

* Experience in the use of tools for Requirements Management (preferably DOORS) and Configuration Management (preferably RTC).

* Experience in the use of test tools such as Test Director and Quality Manager.

* Exposure to software requirements, architectures, technologies and methods.

* Experience working in a Product Line team or in a product team adopting a Product Line.

Security Requirements:

Due to the nature of the work my client undertakes, successful candidates will need to hold or undergo UK SC level Security Clearance. If you don't hold current SC Clearance, please familiarise yourself with the process prior to applying.
