College of Behavioral and Social Sciences 

The Department of Psychology in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences invites applications and nominations for two Assistant Professor positions. Both positions will be located on the Statesboro campus.

In January 2017, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents voted to consolidate Armstrong State University and Georgia Southern University. The new, 27,000-student university will be named Georgia Southern University with campuses in Savannah, Statesboro, and Hinesville. The expected timeline for the first entering class will be fall 2018. 

Within this setting, the Department of Psychology offers bachelor's, master's (experimental emphasis) and an APA-accredited Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) degree programs. The department also offers psychological services through its Psychology Clinic, and Regents Center for Learning Disorders. The individuals in these positions will teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Position Description: Reporting to the department chair, the Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology requires teaching, research, and service responsibilities. The position is an academic (9/10 month), tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

Required Qualifications:

• Earned PhD or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a closely related field by August 1, 2018

• Evidence of potential for strong publication record

• Effective communication skills

• Commitment to social justice in mentorship and training

• Experience working with diverse populations

• License or license-eligible at the doctoral level in Georgia

• Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Commitment to research and service with rural and/or underserved populations

• Experience with a variety of research methodologies

• An integrative clinical theoretical orientation

• Evidence of advocacy work in underserved communities

• Evidence of college/university teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate level

• Record of extramural funding commensurate with experience

• Interest in teaching psychopharmacology, research methods, practicum, multicultural psychotherapy, or psychological assessment at the graduate level
