Keys to Success
You will have a unique "umbrella view" of VCSEL production, and that will serve you well. The essence of the role is to connect the dots among three key information sources in order to provide drive continuous improvement and solve problems. The sources: Your robust understanding of device physics and our production processes Insight from granular analysis of our own extensive data as well as customer data Your knowledge of customer applications, goals and challengesYour technical expertise will be essential, but just as important will be your interpersonal abilities. For example, the process engineers will be peers, and you'll need to establish collaborative relationships with them, based on credibility and mutual goals. You'll also interact directly with customers, and you'll need a customer service mindset along with the willingness to manage expectations as necessary.
It's important enough that it bears repeating: If you are used to small scale production or R&D environments, you will have to make the adjustment to high-volume production. The pace is fast and there will lots going on at any given time. You should bring flexibility along with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
