Education:

Extension Educator - Horticulture College of Agricultural & Life Sciences The Extension Educator will provide overall leadership and organization for multi-county horticulture programs (50%), crops and forage programs (30%), and 4-H Youth Development (20%). This position requires a Master's degree from an accredited institution in field of study related to Horticulture, Plant Science, or a closely related discipline; preferred at least 3 years of experience in Extension education or demonstrated ability and skill in horticulture. Salary range: $46,000 or commensurate with experience and market.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Provide overall leadership and organization for multi-county consumer and commercial horticulture programs (50% of Outreach and Extension Time). Plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and report horticulture programs for homeowners, nursery and landscape professionals, gardeners and small acreage landowners. With direction from local advisory committees, develop and facilitate collaborative educational programs that meet clientele needs. Evaluate and report program impacts. Provide leadership and organization for crops and forage programs (30% of Outreach and Extension Time) including integration of sustainable production practices into current cropping systems. Provide leadership for the 4-H/Youth Development program in Franklin (20% of Outreach and Extension Time). Deliver programs through classes, workshops, demonstrations, camps, fairs, volunteer training sessions, and other methods as appropriate.

Document results from evaluation studies that measure whether participants in major programs gain knowledge, implement best management practices, become more effective land stewards, and successfully manage their natural resources. Provide assistance in university outreach where appropriate. Promote UI Extension programs with clientele, elected officials, and other community partners through newsletters, websites, press releases, radio and television, and social media
