Job Description


Loudoun County's Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants for our Systems Maintenance Crew Chief vacancy within the Facilities Support Division working in one of the following specific areas of General Government, Public Safety or Parks & Recreation. The successful candidates will supervise the work of multiple crews, operating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, devices and equipment in County occupied buildings; responsible for all mechanical work performed by crews under the incumbents Master Mechanical License; perform advanced, complex mechanical work in the installation, maintenance and repair of HVAC and other systems, devices, and equipment; review work orders, establish priorities, and make daily work assignments to technicians; and conduct periodic mechanical systems inspections in all County facilities; and encourage safe work practices and ensure that all work is performed safely in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and follows all standard trade safety practices. Provide superior customer service at all times.

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation with course work in mechanical/electrical trades and at least 7 years of directly related experience installing and maintaining commercial mechanical systems, devices and equipment, and including a minimum of two years supervisory experience. Prefer 3 years or more of supervisory experience. Must be proficient in Building Automation Systems & MS Office products.

Requires a valid, current Mechanical Master's License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia or able to obtain within 12 months of hire; requires a valid CFC license and a valid Pool Operators license and training on facility specific building and pool systems within 90 days of hire. Subject to recall and/or being held beyond scheduled workday if required by County or Departmental requirements. Requires on-call response to out-of-hour emergency/priority work requests on a rotating basis at one-week intervals approximately every six – eight weeks. Respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal direction. This position is considered essential.

Successful candidate will undergo criminal background checks to include fingerprinting, credit and DMV record checks.
