Job Description

Loureiro Engineering Associates, Inc. (Loureiro) has an immediate need for an Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) specialist to support our growing EHS division.  This candidate will be responsible for supporting both project work based in our Plainville, CT office, and providing EHS support at client sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in coordination and preparation of reports;
  • Development and maintenance of a variety of safety plans & programs, including but not limited to:
    • Hazard Communication (Hazcom/GHS) Program;
    • Energy Isolation and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Program;
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
    • Respiratory Protection;
    • Confined Spaces;
    • Emergency Response Plans;
    • Process Safety Management (PSM)/Risk Management Planning (RMP);
    • Job Safety Analyses (JSA's);
    • Machine Guarding Assessments;
    • Industrial Hygiene Sampling;
    • Responsible for completing regulatory RCRA, Air and NPDES permitting projects; assuring compliance reports and certifications with existing permits;
  • Provide training for both large and small groups:
    • Effectively speak, engage, and train groups in a variety of EHS topics.
  • Proficient in 1910;
  • Participate in and/or lead client safety committee meetings;
  • Provide on-site EHS support to a variety of clients;
  • Conduct EHS audits and support client’s external audits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering;
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Self-starter with EHS internships or 1-3 years’ of experience, preferably in a consulting environment;
  • Ability to travel, within the state most days, with occasional travel out-of-state;
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
