FOUNDING PROGRAM DIRECTOR OF THE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY MASTERS PROGRAM

Maria College Health Sciences department invites applications and nominations for the position of Founding Program Director of the Occupational Therapy Masters Program. Maria College has a long history of health professional education, which currently includes nursing, health & occupational sciences, healthcare management and occupational therapy assistant programs. The Founding Program Director will build upon a very successful occupational therapy assistant program that has been in existence for over 41 years and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).

This position is best suited for a mid to senior level academic occupational therapist trained at the PhD level (or equivalently trained EdD, ScD, DSc or DrPH), who has a trajectory of progressive academic leadership and scholarship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop curriculum and program content for proposed masterís degree in occupational therapy to move program from Applicant Status through Candidacy Status to Full Accreditation.
  • Manage and administer the program, including planning, evaluating, budgeting, faculty and staff selection, maintenance of accreditation, and commitment to strategies for professional development.
  • Teach associate, bachelorís and masterís degree courses in occupational therapy, health and occupational sciences for day, evening and weekend classes.
  • Provide academic advisement to students.
  • Serve on departmental and college committees.
  • Develop appropriate applied research activities and mentor graduate students in research scholarship.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF NURSING FOR THE BS COMPLETION IN NURSING PROGRAM
Maria College invites applications at the Assistant Professor level (BS in Nursing Completion Program) for the 2018-2019 academic year. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate courses in Nursing at the baccalaureate level, advise students, serve on college-wide and department committees, and share responsibility for administrative and supervisory duties in the BS Completion Program including assistance with periodic review, planning, development, revision, and general effectiveness of the program. Demonstrated excellence in prior teaching in an academic setting required; knowledge of or commitment to baccalaureate nursing education preferred. Candidates with curriculum development, program assessment and leadership experience also preferred.

REQUIREMENTS: Graduate Degree (Masters in Nursing) and BS Nursing required, Post Graduate Degree (Ph.D, EdD, or DNP) preferred. Applicant also must have an active, unencumbered New York State Registered Nurse license; at least 4 years of experience as a practicing registered nurse, and experience teaching in a Nursing program.
