Purpose of Position

GDMS are recruiting for System Engineering in support of its delivery of the MORPHEUS EvO Transition Partner programme. Within this programme GDMS are responsible for the delivery of an open architecture Tactical C4 I System. In order to deliver the TP programme GDMS have adopted an Agile Methodology in the form of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) and is applying it across the whole system and product development lifecycle. This is as a step change approach from traditional waterfall delivery model designed to enable continuous delivery and validation of solutions, with flexibility to respond to changing customer requirements, foster innovation and promote collaborative working between team and Customer stakeholders based on shared interest, values and goals. The role is for an experienced systems engineer to contribute to the specification, design and development, validation of solutions for one or more of folloing subject matter areas within the EvO TacCIS system

* Tactical networks and radio bearers

* Hosting of applications and services on EvO infrastructure

* Management of information and information services in the EvO TacCIS system

* System management including planning, configuration, monitoring, provisioning

* Interoperability between the EvO TacCIS system and external systems, including the legacy BCIP system; and integration of legacy equipment and platfoms

* Microsoft Windows and cross platform development

Responsibilities

Tasks assigned will be varied and can include requirements analysis, Use Case development, functional and feature specification, elaboration of designs, trade-off analysis and liaison with cross functional teams to develop and regularly deliver working software/solutions through the SAFe agile process.

Required Skills & Abilities

Essential

* Candidate must have experience in one or more of the following areas acquired through relevant job roles:

o Tactical networks including radio bearers for voice and data communications including network/bearer protocols for voice, reliable data delivery, routing, address resolution including those applicable to wired and wireless environments. Including planning, configuration and monitoring.

o User Applications and Services, including specification, selection or development, system integration, deployment, provisioning and support

o Information management solutions, enterprise integration patterns, information exchange requirements, data schemas, relevant technologies for information storage, distribution, exploitation within enterprise systems and edge systems

o System management, including planning, provisioning and monitoring for large enterprise/networked systems. Familiar with applicable (open) standards interfaces, enterprise design patterns, and selection of relevant technologies and solutions to meet system requirements.

o Systems interoperability including information exchange requirements, interoperability formats and standards, gateway equipment, information exchange interface , planning and security considerations, and other lines of development o Expertise in specifying solutions and approaches for the integration of legacy equipment and software with consideration of backwards compatibility, maintainability etc

o Strong Microsoft Windows Platform development experience including good understanding of Windows architecture, services, and security features

o Experienced in specifying solutions for OS configuration to meet client requirements including security hardening, authentication, automated build

o Experience of virtualisation and container technologies and their application within enterprise / system solutions o Familiar with MS enterprise services including Active Directory, Email, Share Point and their specification and configuration within Enterprise solutions

o Experience with considerations for cross-platform development (e.g. Windows/Linux) and hosting software/services on different hardware types

* Experienced with engineering methods and tools for requirements management, architecture definition, design elaboration, verification & validation

* Demonstrates understanding of the system engineering lifecycle and phases, and challenges associated with system engineering in a delivery focused, commercially organisation.

* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Desirable

* Experience in using the SAFe / Agile methodologies for systems or software development

* Experienced in the use of one or more the following engineering tools: DOORs, PTC Integrity Modeller, IBM Rational Rhapsody, RTC, RQM
