Leverage Your RF & MEMS Experience to Join a Team of Top Engineers & Designers at an Exciting Startup Backed by Industry Leaders

Support cutting-edge switch technology bringing disruptive improvements to diverse markets including Medical, Communications, IT & more.

This is your opportunity to take the next step in your career by working on new cutting-edge micro switch technology -- technology that will impact a broad range of industrial and commercial products.

The role of Senior RF MEMS Design Engineer offers compelling opportunities: While all startups come with a degree of risk, with the technology, financial base and extraordinary team we've put in place, Menlo Micro has a high likelihood of hitting a home run. We're looking for an Engineer whose passion for creation matches that of his/her teammates, and who has the disposition to thrive in an entrepreneurial startup environment where every position is essential and makes an impact. If that sounds like you, consider bringing your talent to our team. In turn, we will give you: Headquartered in Irvine, California, Menlo Micro is a spin-off from GE Global Research that is leveraging more than 10-years of R&D and GE’s proven Digital-Micro-Switch (DMS) technology to create a scalable product development platform that drives disruptive shifts in digitally controlled, RF, smart, high-power switching applications with Smart-Relay-Systems. Our goal is to enable the future of Power IoT and Communications today.

We prefer that you work in our Irvine, CA office, but will also consider outstanding candidates able to work out of our location in Albany, NY. Relocation assistance could be available to the right candidate.

  • Experience with 3D FEM mechanical simulation to optimize structure design
  • Experience with RF device test and test systems
  • Experience with RF package technologies
  • Experience developing RF process design toolkits
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate, find root cause, and correct actions of device failure
In addition, you must be willing and able to travel to our location in Albany, NY and to visit customers approximately 20% of the time. Initial travel will be higher as you'll spend two separate 3-week training periods in Albany in the first three months.

The Role

Overview
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, as Senior RF MEMS Design Engineer, you will be responsible for RF MEMS ohmic switch design and simulation in the development and advancement of Menlo’s RF MEMS switch process design toolkit (PDK). You will serve as a core member of the New Product Introduction (NPI) team responsible for new switch architecture through the development of new ohmic MEMS switch products. You will be directly involved in detailed 3D EM modeling, package modeling and co-design, hands-on characterization, and de-bugging of new device designs.

We work in an innovative and collaborative team environment supporting the product development team goal to deliver industry-leading products capable of both a broad frequency range (DC to 60GHz) and wide RF power handling up to 50dBm for both device and microsystem solutions.

Your Role
You will work on a highly productive team and interact daily with layout, process and test development engineers to ensure design solutions alignment. You will also work closely with early adopting customers to ensure upfront spec alignment and system integration success. This a hands-on role where you will be responsible for the development and timely delivery of innovative design rules that create a robust platform for horizontal RF MEMS technology and product development. Quick question for you - click here

Ground-floor Opportunity
You will join us on the ground-floor, helping to drive success nearly from the beginning! This is your opportunity to be part of a tremendous business opportunity, and as we grow, you can grow along with us, building a career that will last over the long-haul.

Ground-breaking Technology
Born out of a decade-long effort at General Electric's Global Research Center, Menlo Micro is bringing to the market a series of technology innovations that have enabled us to reinvent one of the most essential and fundamental building blocks required for nearly every electronic system imaginable....the switch. To read more about our technology follow the hyperlink, but be sure to come back to submit your resume/application: Menlo Micro Technology.

Top Talent
We've already said it, but it's worth repeating. You will work with top industry talent -- highly experienced leaders with decades of combined experience and wins ranging from past startup success to success at major corporations -- as well as talented individual contributors. All or our team members bring tremendous skill and a proven track record of success, ranging from important journal publications to a plethora of patents to business and leadership successes, both domestic and international, and more. You will add your own strong skills to that talent, and also have plenty of opportunities to learn and further develop your skills.

A Few More Details
Unlike most startups, we have a decade of research behind us and $18.7 million backing to get us started. We already have clients with needs ranging from home automation to wireless power-charging and are in production with a product that will support GE's MRI technology. In fact, we're already so far along that we've added a supply chain team and we just launched the business in December 2016! In other words, you will enjoy the entrepreneurial atmosphere of a high-potential startup without worrying about the usual startup risks.

Keys to Success

While we enjoy benefits and security beyond a normal startup, ours is still a startup environment. To thrive and excel here, you must take ownership of your role and be accountable for the breadth of your responsibilities. The team is small, so visibility is high, but so is the opportunity to make an impact. Quick question for you - click here

Your technical skills will be central, but in our small environment, your interpersonal and communication skills will also be critical. Additionally, you should be comfortable in a rapidly growing environment where ambiguity is the norm. You’re entering on the ground floor, so you won’t find established SOPs. Flexibility and adaptability will be critical to success.
