Director of Communications and Media Relations

Moore & Van Allen PLLC is a prominent, business and litigation law firm with three offices in the Carolinas. 
 This full-time position, located in our Charlotte, NC office, provides strategic communications, public relations and media relations counsel for MVA Public Affairs clients.  Also, takes action for the development and growth of the firm's public relations practice. 

Responsibilities include: providing communications services to corporate clients, including planning and executing strategic communications campaigns to support public affairs and government relations projects and managing media outreach and relationships; researching and preparing persuasive messaging collateral for use by clients and public affairs professionals; performing media research strategy and analysis for relevant client issues and prospective issues; producing materials such as media advisories, press releases and news stories related to client issues; drafting firm to client, client to employee and client to third party communications materials; maintaining media relationships and ensuring story placement and/or responses; providing strategic advice for use of social media tools for client public relations campaigns; assisting with development of team marketing materials; developing materials such as executive speeches, legislative testimony, white papers, talking points and executive briefings; taking action for the development and growth of the firm's public relations practice. 

Position may require more than 40 hours per week to accomplish essential duties. 

A Bachelor degree in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related field is required.  Also required is 7 - 10 years of experience in communications and/or public relations.  Prior corporate communications and public relations experience is required.  Excellent project management and interpersonal communications skills along with outstanding writing and oral communication skills are required.  Experience working with media in the Carolinas, in particular Charlotte and Raleigh markets is helpful, along with political or campaign management experience.  Must possess a current and valid driver's license.
