Group Account Director (Pharma Agency/Managed Markets)

Job Description
The Group Account Director supports business development/sales efforts through executing on and ensuring the successful delivery of managed market services and products across multiple accounts within assigned clients. The Group Account Director is involved in client strategy, client marketing, campaign budgets, and assists in up-selling new products and services to existing clients. She/he assist Client Services leadership to build client relationships and ensure client satisfaction through high levels of performance achievement. The Group Account Director is responsible for overall management, mentoring, training, and development of assigned direct-report(s).
Key Responsibilities
Client Management
- Accountable for all SOW and project brief development and day-to-day management of assigned account(s)
- Ensure that client satisfaction is achieved on all project deliverables
- Maintain and improve client relationships and retention of current
account relationships - Partner with client on a periodic basis to ensure strategic brand or
departmental direction - Provide client with business solutions and demonstrate expertise in
managed markets - Reviews status/contact reports to client on a standardized basis
Project Management
- Partner with internal teams to ensure successful execution of projects and budget management as appropriate
- Ensure the highest standards of quality control of client materials and develop best practices/SOPs for project teams to facilitate quality control and consistency
- Leads internal teams to ensure project timelines are met, quality of work is
high, and communication is fluid with all parties, each member understanding their roles - Participates in internal meetings with strategy, client services, creative, copy, project management, editorial, and other key personnel to discuss project status
Leadership
- Manage Account Services team and individuals to ensure they meet and exceed customer needs and expectations
- Coaches, develops, and supervises staff on an consistent and ongoing basis
- Identifies and communicates clear roles and responsibilities of team members establishing clear expectations
- The Group Account Director should be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to their staff and clients on the health care industry, medical marketing and communications industry, disease-specific issues and clinical data that are critical to clients and their business
Business Development
- Contributes to new business initiatives by collaborating with Creative, Strategic and Program Development (as applicable)
- Responsible for organic growth of existing client project work and up-selling where appropriate
Finance
- Manages proposal development, project management, projections, reconciliation and forecasting to meet corporate and account goals
- Provides periodic budget status updates and communication with client
- Ensures budgets and project estimates are accurate and appropriately represent required project hours
Qualifications and Experience
- 10+ years of experience with a pharmaceutical advertising agency experience or in a managed markets, medical communications company
- Managed Markets experience is required
- 8 + years in direct client/ brand account management
- Desire to be hands on with client deliverables
- Ability to manage and prioritize numerous, complex programs in various stages of life cycle
- Launch experience preferred
- Must have experience being the principal client lead and managing client relationships
- Previous experience managing team members
- Experience required in managing a large book of business
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the therapeutic areas, science, markets and products for all assigned accounts
- Solid Knowledge of marketing principles, preferably healthcare marketing
- Demonstrate the ability to apply marketing knowledge to brand building initiatives
- Demonstrate ability to use information and data effectively
- Works with confidential and sensitive corporate, client and employee information and must conduct him or herself accordingly.
- Demonstrates analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to provide solutions with little direction.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to obtain results
- Responds well under pressure, is flexible
- Ability to travel required, minimum 10% for client meetings
