Job Description


Are you interested in a career that changes lives? Do you want a company that you can possibly grow with? Can you establish safe and trusting relationships? New Horizon Community Care is looking for mentors to help with our male outpatient program for youth and adults.

Mentors work with clients and their families to help promote healthy relationships through positive, age appropriate communications. Mentoring services are provided in conjunction with the child and the family's community to strengthen access to natural supports and resources.

Mentor's are responsible for:

  • Contributing to and creating a recovery based environment.
  • Performs direct service to individuals, group,
  • life skills training, behavior management, and crisis intervention.
  • Assists in helping clients reach treatment plan goals.
  • Attend and participate in in-service training sessions and related training opportunities as made available.
  • Provide crisis intervention.
  • Documents services provided according to NHCC standards on a daily basis.
  • Completes all required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Will be expected to accompany, supervise and assist consumers when asked to do so.
  • Plans and organizes activities.
  • Assist clients with community integration.

Minimum requirement consists of:

  • At least 21-years of age.
  • An Associate's degree and two years of full-time behavioral health experience or
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Human Services, Counseling and Psychology plus one year of behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Valid AZ non restricted driver's license is required.
  • Knowledge of behavioral management, de-escalation methods,
  • crisis intervention, and defusing techniques to prevent violent behavior harmful to self or others and the ability to apply these techniques to a client population in various levels of crisis.
  • Ability to communicate well in writing and verbally.
  • Be a team member.
  • Experience working with multi-cultural and low socio-economic individuals.

Positions available in Chandler and Phoenix.

Starting salary range: $15.00-$17.00 depending on experience and education.
