The Role

You’ll join another engineer in Charlotte as part of a team that includes two members in France (one of whom is your direct supervisor) and one in China. As part of an international team, you’ll need to be sensitive to cultural differences, and willing to accommodate (such as taking meetings outside of normal business hours) due to time differences when needed.

The team’s key goals are to handle all tasks related to the server and storage infrastructure for the company, including storage, physical hardware, and data center management. We’ve recently completed a migration to VMware, so you should have some experience with that platform. We’ll also be replicating business essentials as part of the disaster recovery plan, so you’ll always have plenty of interesting challenges. The rest of your time will be spent troubleshooting, keeping the systems working, and making sure things run smoothly. • Provide level 2/3 administrative support for Office, Manufacturing Facilities, and Data Centers located in North America, Europe, and Asia.
  • Install, configure, and support virtual machines OS.

  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures. Contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
  • Provide excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to work down to desktop support level.
  • Work within a Global Team to support Polypore services.
  • Take global on-call shifts for 14 – 21 days per year.
