Your New role :-

This is an exciting opportunity for an IT Desktop Support Administrator who wishes to progress into this role, to join a dynamic and fast paced software group and to help shape the future of our market leading software solutions and help to support our customer base, both directly and indirectly.

You will be working in a team and will demonstrate self-motivation and self-learning, with an appetite to continually improve your skills. The main purpose of the role will be to provide 1st/2nd line support to the company’s employees and to provide support in all areas of IT, with exceptional windows administration skills. The role will support both software and hardware and be mainly deskside support, thus communication skills and a smart appearance are essential.

There will be some out of hours support required and this role will also be involved in small project work. This role will ideally suit a candidate who is very self-motivated and happy to self-train to enhance their skills.

Your Skills and Qualifications :-

Essential Skills :-

- Tier 1/2 support for servers, workstations, and cross-platform services.

- Ideally, the IT Desktop Support Administrator will be MCP qualified (Microsoft Certified Professional) and preferably hold a MCSE.

- Working within a Microsoft environment, you will have experience with windows and exchange servers and some knowledge of VMWare and VLAN knowledge.

- Regular deployment of essential tools used by our scientific community.

- Troubleshoot issues related to performance, authentication, and permissions, in a cross-platform environment.

- Supporting projects to help start a new business division.

- Participation in the on-call rotation schedule.

- Working with internal users and external support to resolve issues and scale systems.

- You will be able to demonstrate your skills and be a first-class communicator who is well presented at all times.

Required Criteria

- Ideally, the IT Desktop Support Administrator will be MCP qualified (Microsoft Certified Professional) and preferably hold a MCSE.

Desired Criteria

- Degree in Computer science / software engineering or equivalent.

- Excellent understanding of the technical fundamentals.

- Good knowledge of: MS Server 2008, 2012; MS Exchange 2010, 2013; MS Office 2012, 2013 / Office 365.

- Excellent Windows 7/8/10 troubleshooting ability.

- Excellent telephone manner. Some support will be provided over the phone.
