MAJOR FUNCTION:

The full time IT Software/Database Specialist will work with staff, students, parents, and community members of Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences to ensure a positive experience in the use of all school technology related software. This includes all administration of PSAS Databases, such as PowerSchool, HelpCounter, Licensing, etc. The Software/Database specialist will work to maintain all licensing agreements to support the safety and security of PSAS student and staff data. This position will support all schools within the PSAS Charter, and will perform on site consultations as needed.

Job Duties – 75%

  1. Provide excellent customer service that is kind courteous, timely, efficient, and solution oriented to all (staff, students, parents & guests) end users.
  2. Work with faculty, staff, and administration to design/develop/deploy efficient/quality Web sites, pages, and applications that meet the user specifications and the standards established by PSAS. Maintain documentation internal and external (if necessary) to Web and source code that will best support future maintenance.
  3. Support system modules and generate accurate student and staff data for submission of timely data reporting to the Colorado Department of Education’s Data Pipeline through Pueblo City Schools’ IT Department.
  4. Develop and maintain appropriate user groups granting database permissions to ensure compliance with FERPA and other legislative requirements.  Perform backups/restorals in direct support of the Student and Staff Information Systems.
  5. Perform analysis, design, programming, modification, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer programs and relational databases based on user requirements/specifications.
  6. Assist in analyzing federal and state accountability.
  7. Serves as student information system (SIS) administrator and oversees all functionality of SIS and SIS extensions.
  8. Research and consult with departments regarding software and related programs. Coordinate software replacement cycles with conjunction of IT Hardware Specialist and hardware planning.
  9. Receives and responds to incoming emails/phone calls and or walk-ins regarding computer, software, and other technology related problems.
  10. Remotely performs analysis, diagnoses, and resolves complex computer problems for a variety of end-users.
  11. Provide information and training remotely to school staff on the use of the various technologies, student information systems and technical procedures / processes.
  12. Prioritizes and schedules resolutions, regarding all end user configurations.
  13. Performs quality assurance follow-ups to all IT and assistance requests.
  14. Evaluates documented resolutions and analyzes trends for ways to prevent future problems.
  15. Provides assistance to other members of the Information Technology Department as required.
  16. Assists Special Programs with unique configurations and installations for target students.
  17. Develops strategies for growth of PSAS IT Department and assists business manager with all financial functions regarding IT; including but not limited to: Purchase orders, obtains quotes for annual budget, and planning for future.
  18. Research, design, and recommend technological improvements to classrooms, infrastructure, and other resources. Develop, implement, and optimize solutions that increase efficiency and effectiveness in an educational environment.
  19. Conducts annual security audits of PSAS network and domain in order to best protect PSAS Student Data and Security, may coordinate with outside resources.

Job Duties – 25%

  1. Knowledgeable about PSAS Hardware to include successful staff use and maintains ability to fill in for IT Hardware Specialist as needed.
  2. Respond to IT Help Desk inquires to maintain classroom IT; including SmartBoards, TVs, Laptops, Student Computer Labs, etc.
  3. Works in conjunction with IT Hardware Specialist to deploy images to computers, and readies all technology for staff and students.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.

Note:  This position requires the ability to work occasional evenings to support all programs, field trips, and I.T. needs. You must be able to work these hours in order to be considered for this position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

MINIMUM REQUIRED:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology

PREFERRED:

  • Training and experience with computer equipment, software, and peripherals.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license
  • A+ Certification is preferred
  • Experience in the installation and maintenance of Enterprise Network and Server management systems.
  • Experience in the installation and maintenance of LAN/WAN/WLAN network systems.
  • Prior programming experience
  • Experience working with Google Platform
  • Basic Website Design
