PRINCIPAL NETWORK ENGINEER

Job Purpose:

The incumbent will be responsible for operationalizing new projects, by participating in project meetings, and by ensuring that right approach is being followed for a smooth handover to Operations team, which includes transition plan, documentation, hands-on, trainings etc. When not occupied with projects work, the incumbent will focus on improving the state of Technology infrastructure, leading to improved availability, and security. Additionally, the role will also serve as an escalation point within the Operations team, for any technical or procedural issues.

Work Experience / Knowledge:

10+ years in Network & Security administration role.

Possess strong working & troubleshooting experience on -

- Routing & Switching

- Firewall technologies/Network Security

- WAN Optimization,

- Load Balancing, High Availability

- Proxy appliances/VPN

Strong troubleshooting skills.

Good to have working experience on CISCO UCS

Practical experience in network design, including the use of dynamic routing protocols, QoS principles and high availability configuration options.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

Engage with the Engineering team, and have detailed operationalizing plan for new and ongoing projects.

Participate in the meetings pertaining to new build activities and understand the scope of Operations team and there by lay the path for the team.

Active participation in technical product evaluations

Provide and maintain internal project-related documentation to effectively record, track and review project progress

Coach and mentor the Operations team such that it is ready to take on new services.

Ensure that the Operations portfolio remains current. Highlight areas requiring refresh albeit from a hardware or software perspective.

Act as the lead coordinator/ implementer for Operations aspects of assigned project activity.

Ensure operational standards are adhered to. This includes actively looking to continuously improve working practices to ensure the team work’s as efficiently as possible.

Responsible for inculcating the culture of compliance to operational standards, processes and procedures. This includes actively looking to continuously improve working practices to ensure the team work’s as efficiently as possible.

Act as the escalation point in the team for technical issues of diverse nature, and lead them to successful resolution.

Take ownership of critical issues i.e. major incidents, complex changes, DR/BR tests etc., and draft an action plan for successful resolution.

Identify improvements that can be made to the infrastructure. Assist with streamlining, simplification and in general improvement of systems’ efficiencies through the effective use of technology, lateral thinking and creativity.

Deputize in the absence of the Team Leader/Manager as & when required.

Regularly review the team risk profile and advise proper measures to mitigate those risks.

Identify improvements that can be made to the Technology infrastructure. Assist with streamlining, simplification and in general improvement of systems’ efficiencies through the effective use of technology, lateral thinking and creativity.

Collaborate with other Technology teams to deliver world class services from Technology Infrastructure standpoint.

Help drive the vulnerabilities management agenda in alignment with security framework.
