JOB TITLE: Head Cheerleading Coach
LOCATION: Sheridan High School
SCHEDULE: Work hours based upon scheduling of practice and games
WORK STATUS: Classified, Hourly Exempt
REPORTS TO: Principal and Athletic Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Head Cheerleading Coach works under the direction of the Athletic Director and is responsible for training and managing the cheerleading team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, staff, and the community
- Prepare and develop lessons for practices that are developmentally appropriate for High School Team Sports in the following areas: cheers, dances, stunts, and tumbling.
- Develop routines for half time shows, rallies, community performances and competitions.
- Monitor student attendance, participation and safety during practice and events.
- Uphold the student conduct code according to district policy. Model appropriate behavior, language and conflict resolution strategies.
- Responsible for the inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Oversee and advise any fund raising activities.
- Demonstrate personal integrity, responsibility, impartiality, respect and courtesy.
- Perform any other specific job-related duties as directed by the Athletic Director or Principal.

None
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Previous Cheer/Spirit/Pom Team experience (dance or gymnastics background is a plus).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize various projects and deadlines.
Required
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
Preferred
- Bilingual Spanish/English desirable.
- CPR/AED Certification.

- Ability to cope with emergency situations.
- Ability to accept guidance and feedback.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions required the following physical demands: some lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling: and signification fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires sitting, walking, and standing. This job is performed in generally a clean and healthy environment.
CLEARANCE:
Must clear background check through the CBI and the FBI through Fingerprint submission.
SALARY:
Placement on the Additive Salary Schedule based upon previous related experience. Current Board approved Additive Salary Schedule is available for review on our website at https://filecabinet5.eschoolview.com/52FC275F-2398-4088-B57F-33576D21AE37/Salary/FinalAdditiveScheduleAfter7105.pdf . Highest initial step placement is Step 5.
BENEFITS:
This position does not qualify for health benefits. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by statute to contribute 8% of salary on a pre-tax basis to PERA. The District also contributes a 20.15% in addition to the employee contribution.
