What You Will Do

This position is located in Shelbyville, KY (30 mins south of downtown Louisville).  Local candidates only; relocation assistance not provided. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for insuring that plant operations and production are meeting required quantity and quality standards. Responsible for maintaining and improving systems and processes safely, and at a minimum cost. Accountable for identifying, recommending, and implementing improvements in manufacturing methods. Manages all activities related to development of operations employees, including maintenance, production, team leads, and supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Manages and communicates production schedule to ensure that quotas are met and finished goods inventories and shipments are maintained at the proper level.

2. Oversees flow of materials and utilization of labor to ensure adequate production that meets customer requirements.

3. Oversees allocation and use of employees to ensure fulfillment of production schedules in all department at the lowest possible costs.

4. Manages operations employee training and development and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.

5. Directs operation of all operations departments and communicates with all supervisors and leads in the performance of their duties.

6. Determine methods that will reduce the overall costs of labor, materials and rework, etc.

7. Develop and maintain procedures that reduce defects and ensures customer rejects are put back into the system in a timely manner.

8. Directly manages the communication of goals, expectations, performance and discipline of all management level operations employees. Oversees performance management for production employees with the plant supervisors and managers.

9. Collaborates with sales in reviewing new jobs to ensure hang patterns, line speeds, racking and manning are properly represented during the quoting stage.

10. Meets with supervisors, leads and employees to discuss new customer parts and ensure they are being ran as quoted and customer requirements are being met.

11. Assures company policies and procedures regarding employee’s health and safety are monitored and followed. Facilitate proactive measures and ensure incidents are thoroughly and appropriate corrective action is promptly taken where needed.

12. Perform other duties and handles special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of business software systems, Contact Management systems; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems and be proficient using Excel.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
