Job Description
MAIN FUNCTION:
Plans, organizes and conducts occupational therapy program in hospital, institution, or community setting to facilitate development and rehabilitation of mentally, physically or emotionally handicapped patients/clients.
EDUCATION:
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy with minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s of Science degree. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure, in the states of Pennsylvania and New York.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in home health is desirable but not necessary
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Evaluate/reevaluate needs of assigned patients/clients according to departmental policies and procedures.
Plan treatment for assigned caseload, identifying appropriate patient problems, interventions and goals.
Implement treatment consistent with established treatment protocols.
Document and evaluate patient’s progress according to departmental policies and procedures.
Teach individuals skills and techniques required for participation in activities.
Design and construct special equipment for individual and suggests adaptation of individual’s work-living environment.
Develop and document discharges and follow up programs in accordance with
patient’s probable discharge environment.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to infants, children, adolescents, adults and/or geriatrics served by his/her department.
