The Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, is proud to announce openings for full-time board certified/board eligible physiatrists with a strong desire to further their academic careers, and advance the science and education in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Positions currently available are:

1) General Physiatrist – The department seeks a full-time board eligible/board certified physiatrist to expand our general inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services at Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Outpatient services include neurorehabilitation/stroke and electrodiagnostic testing. Inpatient services include coverage of the General Rehabilitation Inpatient Unit and inpatient consultations up to five (5) months per year. General rehabilitation outpatient services would also be provided at Froedtert Hospital or other off-campus locations.

2) SpineCare Interventional Physiatrist – The department seeks two (2) full-time physiatrists our SpineCare clinic. SpineCare is a transdisciplinary team based program which consists of Physiatry, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and Case Management. Positions available:
• Full-time position for a board certified/board eligible physiatrists with interest in the treatment of patients with non-interventional spine disorders. This position would involve primarily outpatient services, with limited inpatient call coverage. Outpatient services include musculoskeletal medicine, interventional procedures and other spine related treatments.
• Full-time position for a board certified/board eligible physiatrists with sub-specialty training preferred in interventional spine injections. This position would involve primarily outpatient services, with limited inpatient call coverage. Outpatient services include musculoskeletal medicine, EMG and other spine related treatments.

Successful candidates will have strong clinical abilities, well-refined interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and commitment to our academic missions. Fellowship training or special expertise in an area of PM&R is highly desirable.

The department enjoys a large integrated program with 30 faculty at three major teaching hospitals; i) Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Administration Hospital, ii) Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, and iii) Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

Froedtert Hospital is the primary adult hospital affiliate of the Medical College and is staffed by College physicians providing care in all medical specialties and subspecialties. Froedtert is the only adult Level 1 Trauma Center in eastern Wisconsin. Located within the hospital is a 28 bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, specializing in spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, spasticity and tone management, and general rehabilitation.

The Medical College of Wisconsin is a major national research center; the largest research institution in the Milwaukee metro area and 2nd largest in Wisconsin. In fiscal year 2014-15, faculty received approximately $158 million in external support for research, teaching, training and related purposes, of which approximately $85 million is from the National Institute of Health.

Milwaukee is the cultural and economic center of Wisconsin. The city boasts a very reasonable cost of living and a four-season climate. Milwaukee is home to three major sports teams, many shopping centers and malls, and a variety of county parks in addition to a beautiful lakefront. Milwaukee offers an excellent ballet, opera, and symphony. An outstanding zoo provides enjoyment for the entire family. Summer music festivals on the lakefront are among the largest in the nation.
