Chief Financial Officer/Controller Position in Carlton, MN
Ulland Brothers, Inc., is a civil, highway-heavy, aggregate, and site contractor with offices in Carlton, Virginia and Albert Lea, MN. The Chief Financial Officer will play a key role in evaluating overall corporate strategy with the President and leaders of the management team.
Basic Function: A chief financial officer operates within a company’s financial, administrative, and risk management functions.
Principal accountabilities are:
- Act as Chief Financial Officer and strategic business partner to Executive Management Committee and Board of Directors
- Supervise and mentor the accounting staff
- Develop financial, operational and tax strategies
- Oversee cash, investments and asset management
- Manage the issuance of financial information monthly, quarterly, and annual audit
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
- Represent the company with bankers, insurance agents, surety and clients
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA Preferred
- Background in public accounting preferred
- 10 years minimum experience in accounting and financial management
- Experience in the construction industry preferred
- Outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP, including accounting for long-term construction contracts.
- Background managing company sponsored retirement plans, including ESOP, strongly preferred.
- “Hands On” ERP Systems Experience – Viewpoint Construction Software preferred
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
- Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues.
