Chief Financial Officer/Controller Position in Carlton, MN

Ulland Brothers, Inc., is a civil, highway-heavy, aggregate, and site contractor with offices in Carlton, Virginia and Albert Lea, MN. The Chief Financial Officer will play a key role in evaluating overall corporate strategy with the President and leaders of the management team.

Basic Function:   A chief financial officer operates within a company’s financial, administrative, and risk management functions.

Principal accountabilities are:

• Act as Chief Financial Officer and strategic business partner to Executive Management Committee and Board of Directors
• Supervise and mentor the accounting staff
• Develop financial, operational and tax strategies
• Oversee cash, investments and asset management
• Manage the issuance of financial information monthly, quarterly, and annual audit
• Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
• Represent the company with bankers, insurance agents, surety and clients

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA Preferred
• Background in public accounting preferred
• 10 years minimum experience in accounting and financial management
• Experience in the construction industry preferred
• Outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP, including accounting for long-term construction contracts.
• Background managing company sponsored retirement plans, including ESOP, strongly preferred.
• “Hands On” ERP Systems Experience – Viewpoint Construction Software preferred
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
• Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
• Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues.
