The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Budget Analyst, Division of Finance and Business, Budget Office [R0107801]

Role of the Position:

The Budget Office is responsible for UNLV's central reporting of state and self-supporting budgets and related financial reports to the Nevada System for Higher Education per the Board of Regents and State of Nevada requirements. The Budget Office consolidates data from multiple sources, including the financial system, position budgeting, employee payroll, and student enrollment data. The Budget Analyst works with large volumes of data extracted from these sources, reviews, analyzes and reconciles the data to produce internal and external reports within strict deadlines in a fast-paced setting. The Analyst is involved in reviewing annual budgets and setting them up in the financial and position budget tracking system, as well as adjustments throughout the year. The Analyst is responsible for investigating and working with account managers to address variances and pursue corrections, ensuring adherence to accounting principles and State of Nevada, Board of Regents' and University policies and procedures. The Analyst will work in a collaborative environment providing customer service within the Finance Division and campus-wide.

 

Qualifications:

This position requires a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university or equivalent experience with preference given for degrees in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, MIS, or related majors. At least two years of experience dealing with financial data, data analysis and reporting, or in a financial setting is preferred. The position operates under the supervision of the Associate Budget Director and must be able to use initiative to resolve budget problems within the scope of the position responsibility, and work in a team environment. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to design and produce reports that present accurate, consistent data, in clear summary format to diverse audiences and maintain records and supporting documentation. Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail, effective written and verbal communication, and good interpersonal skills are essential. Demonstrated skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications are a requirement of the position and experience with database update, data extraction, and report writing is preferred.
