Interventional Radiology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

The Department of Radiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner (ARNP or PA) at the rank of Teaching Associate to join the Interventional Radiology section at the University of Washington Medical Center.  The Teaching Associate appointment is a 12-month term, with reappointment on an annual basis. 

The Teaching Associate will work with subspecialty fellows, residents and faculty to perform the pre-procedure assessment and long-term follow-up of patients undergoing image-guided procedures that will be, or have been, performed.  Other duties include performing basic IR procedures independently, conducting patient interviews and physical examinations, ordering and reviewing relevant laboratory and imaging studies, prescribing medications as needed, corresponding with patients and their providers, and providing relevant patient teaching.  Teaching responsibilities will include training of radiology residents and IR fellows with particular attention to long-term clinical management.  Other activities will include but are not limited to community outreach, conferences, and department lectures.

The Interventional Radiology section has nine full-time and several part time faculty who works closely with other departments and physicians to ensure that the University of Washington Medical Center provides outstanding, comprehensive patient care.  The section is experiencing steady and continued growth in inpatient, outpatient, and clinic services.

Candidates for this position must have a current Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C or foreign equivalent) or Nurse Practitioner license with prescription authority, and licensing in or eligible for licensure in Washington State.  Current BLS and ACLS certification is required.  This individual will work under the direction of a collaborating MD.
