Staff Quantitative Hydrogeologist - Livermore, CA

WEISS ASSOCIATES, a premier San Francisco Bay Area Hydrogeologic, Engineering and Environmental Management firm, is seeking a staff level Quantitative Hydrogeologist to participate in technically challenging environmental projects for a Superfund site at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory site in Livermore, CA.

Requirements include a Master of Science degree in Geology or Hydrogeology and up to three (3) years of experience in hydrogeologic/environmental projects, preferably with some experience on Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) projects. Strong educational background and training in the fundamental concepts of hydrogeology; good communication and report writing skills; and advanced skills in standard software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), are required.  

The successful candidate will possess most of the following skills and capabilities:

• Interpretation of subsurface data, including hydrostratigraphic analysis using geologic, borehole geophysical, and hydraulic and pneumatic data; analysis of soil, and water chemistry data; applied operational hydrogeology skills including hydraulic capture zone analysis and time-series analysis of contaminant trends in wells;
• Understanding of databases and data manipulation skills using spreadsheet/database, subsurface visualization, and GIS software; and
• Understanding of contaminant fate and transport processes in ground water and the vadose zone. Understanding of flow and transport models is a plus.

Aptitude to work on multiple computing platforms (UNIX, PC, MAC), good problem-solving skills, self-motivation and strong desire to work as part of an interdisciplinary team are also required.
